Winmau Continues to Support IDF World Cup
Winmau, the world’s leading darts brand, are continuing their sponsorship of the prestigious IDF World Cup. The World Cup is the softip world’s showcase event, and this year comes with an added bonus – it is being presented by DARTSLIVE and Stage 5 of THE WORLD tournament (the world’s richest softip competition) will be held following the World Cup on 25th August in Shanghai.
The World Cup takes place from 21st to 24th August at the Shanghai East Asia Exhibition Hall, No.1111 North Cao Xi Road, Shanghai, China. The total prize money for this year’s event has increased from US $80,000 to an incredible US $138,400.
Teams from all over the world will be converging on Shanghai to try and win the singles, doubles and national team titles.
Russia will be looking to retain their 2012 team title, and the USA and Russia shared the spoils for all the singles and doubles titles last year.
Ian Flack, Sales and Marketing Director of Winmau, said “The 2012 World Cup was a huge success with 24 countries taking part. This year is sure to be the biggest and the best yet, and we are very proud to be involved in such a high level softip event. Many of our famous steeltip players are showing great interest in playing softip darts, and Mark Webster and Darryl Fitton recently competed in THE WORLD Stage 3. Softip darts have always been an important part of our business, but this side of the sport is set to grow exponentially in the future thanks to the great initiatives of the IDF and DARTSLIVE.”
Joe Mei, Deputy Secretary General of the IDF, added “The IDF World Cup continues to go from strength to strength, and we are very excited to be holding the 4th World Cup here in Shanghai again. The standard of play is fantastic, the facilities are amazing and the tournament couldn’t happen without the support of sponsors such as Winmau. They are a global giant in the darts industry and to have them on board promoting and advising on the event gives it such a big boost. We look forward to welcoming all the players, managers and fans to Shanghai next month.”
