PDC Irish Matchplay- Final

COLIN McGARRY has won a return to the Ladbrokes World Darts Championship by claiming the Tom Kirby Memorial Irish Matchplay final with a 6-4 defeat of Connie Finnan at Dublin's Citywest Hotel.
The Northern Irish ace picked up the leading domestic honour with a superb display, following up his progression to the decider in the early rounds last month in Tramore by hitting six 180s to defeat Finnan.

McGarry previously competed in the World Championship ten years ago, defeating Rory Orvis and Mark Holden at the Circus Tavern before losing out to Phil Taylor, but will now return to darts' biggest stage at Alexandra Palace in December.

Finnan - who had reached the second round of the partypoker.com World Grand Prix earlier this week - pushed the Larne thrower all the way in a tight final, but was eventually punished for missing his chance to force a deciding leg.

After McGarry hit tops to take the opening leg, Finnan traded 180s with McGarry as he levelled before taking out 127 on the bull to move 2-1 up, despite his opponent landing another maximum in leg three.

Double five saw McGarry level, before he hit a 180 and tops to move 3-2 up, and though Finnan took leg six on double eight, the Northern Irish thrower landed a 180 for a third successive leg as double ten put him 4-3 up.

Finnan hit double two to take the eighth leg, but McGarry moved 5-4 up with a superb 13-darter and punished two misses from the Limerick ace by hitting double ten to claim victory.
