BDO Winmau World Masters

This year’s landmark 40th Winmau World Masters in Association with EY Events and Hull City Council will be broadcast to 71 countries by Eurosport (Europe’s leading sports multi-media group) with a reach of 139 million homes in 20 languages across the UK, Europe and the Asia-Pacific region.

The Men’s semi-finals and final will be shown internationally by the broadcaster, and the good news doesn’t stop there! Darts fans world-wide will be able to watch the women’s semi-final and final, girls final, boys final and the men’s last 32 down to the quarter finals live via Winmau TV on the Winmau website.

The Winmau World Masters field has never looked stronger with defending champion and current world number one and number one seed Stephen Bunting leading the race for the Masters crown. Bunting faces some tough competition from the likes of Darryl Fitton, Tony O’Shea and current Lakeside World Champion Scott Waites who are hot on his heels to claim this prestigious title and the £25,000 champions purse.

With the Dutch contingent wielding very strong competition from Wesley Harms, Remco Van Eijden, Jeffrey de Graff and Jan Dekker you can be sure they’ll bring a strong group of passionate fans to Hull from October 10th to 13th.
The top 16 seeds include in-form players such as Ross Montgomery, James Wilson and crowd favourite Richie George and they lie in wait for the qualifying talent coming through from the floor in the last 32 stage, so you can be sure it’s going to be a truly open major darts event.

The world’s best ladies compete on the same weekend as Wales’ Julie Gore looks to defend the title she won last year after beating Deta Hedman 4-1 in the final. Last year’s Girls title winner Fallon Sherrock is another worth watching out for as her success led her to a season of major titles including the British Open.

There is a great crop of Youth talent on display, and the Winmau World Masters gives them the opportunity to showcase their skills on the big stage.

Ian Flack, Sales and Marketing Director of Winmau, said ”This year is very special for our company and this amazing tournament. It’s incredible to think that this is the 40th Winmau World Masters and also the 40th year of our partnership with the BDO. We are delighted that Eurosport will be providing HD coverage (produced by 247.tv) across the UK, Europe as well as in Asia and the Pacific region. Our own growing platform, Winmau TV, will give fans the world over the chance to watch the top class darts on offer for free! With one of the strongest and most in-form line ups the BDO has ever had, the coverage from Hull City Hall will be as gripping as ever. We have absolutely superb coverage all weekend with both live streaming and live television coverage, and we’ll be keeping the fans up-to-date across Winmau’s and the BDO’s Twitter and Facebook accounts so no part of the action will be missed!”.
