This weeks premier league hits the Emerald Isle and the wonderful city of Dublin. Crazy things happen in Dublin, it has a mystical effect on the players and tungsten that is thrown. Maybe its the Guinness or the Irish charm but something makes things happen!
The first match on stage sees Hamilton v Taylor. This match is set to be an all out brawl. Both players lost last week to the Dutch duo of MvG and Barney. Everyone is saying that Taylor is finished and he should just move aside and let others take the reins, but in the Powers head the story will have a different end. He had a tough weekend at Wigan last weekend especially on the Sunday when he lost to a youngster. He now has a lot to prove and this is when he is at his most dangerous. Remember a couple of years back when he only had 2 majors to his name, then the next year he back and won most of them? As we all know the Hammer doesn't know and wont give up. Both players are on 10 points and need a win to make the play-offs. It will probably end in a draw but it will be a brawl getting there.
The next match is an all Dutch affair with Barney taking on MvG. Barney just does what he does and is good at doing it. The effortless throw keeps getting better of late and even the finishing is hitting the mark. MvG is riding the crest of a wave, he had another fantastic weekend of qualifying at Wigan, and looks unstoppable. Barneys weakness is pressure, of late he cant seem to handle it and that's what van Gerwen will bring to the stage. A whole heap of pressure. I cant see anyone apart from MvG winning this one.
Thornton against Wade is next on. The Thorn is the man of the moment on the Premier league stage. He sits fourth in the table and is looking good to make the play-offs. He isn't scared of anybody up on stage. He just turns up, puts his little teddy good luck mascot on the table and throws awesome arrers. That's just what Thornton is about at the moment. Wade has also had a good run. He sits second in the table and is playing out of his skin, but last weekend saw him withdraw due to ill health. Could this be the Machines Achilles heel or just a weekend of i cant be bothered? We will find out on Thursday night when these 2 gladiators prepare to fight.
Whitlock v Hamilton should be a high scoring match. Whitlock won at the weekend and will give him a much needed confidence boost, plus its the Hammers second match of the night so he has the advantage. Its always a good game between these two, but who will take the spoils?
Its that time again..... Barney against Taylor... I know it was only a couple of weeks back that we had this match, but the PDC clearly think we need part 2! The Power took van Barneveld apart the last time they met on the Premier League stage winning 7-3. Barney is superman and Taylor is his Kryptonite, when ever he gets near the Power his head sinks into his shoulders and he gets that sad puppy dog look on his face. It never used to be like this thou, Barney has beaten Taylor... a few times too. Maybe he needs a bit of what ever Thornton has in his locker to conquer Taylor's grip.
Last match of the night is Mvg against Lewis. These 2 always have a good scrap, but Jackpot is not on top of his game at the mo and MvG is. Although this will be MvG's second match so it could go in Jackpots favour. For some reason i always want Lewis to do well, hes a good guy, despite what some say. He's not 2 time world champ for nothing! It will be high scoring and high checkouts that's guaranteed, and the perfect finish to the night.
